What's that spell?!

"W A T E R M E L O N... what's that spell? Watermelon!"

Several weeks ago, Benjamin surprised me by spelling quite a long word. I'd never heard him spell anything before and "watermelon" certainly wasn't what I expected him to start with. I knew exactly where he learned it, but it was still very impressive. We have a CD of fun kids' music with a song about watermelons.

His excellent spelling skills have now become his new party trick and we show him off to everyone. It's really pretty funny. But don't worry, until just recently, the only other word he could spell was D O G. He has now added his own name. Probably the best part of the whole thing though, is the Southern accent with which he says the letters. That's my boy!
