Not to mention

I can't remember exactly what the conversation was about today, but I do remember the funny part. We were talking about something and Benjamin said, "Not to mention..."

So I teased him and said, "Well, I'll be sure not to mention that then."

Then he asked, "What does mention mean?"

I love how he picked up a phrase and actually used it properly, but didn't even know what it meant.
