First Day of School

I just dropped Benjamin off for his first day of school! Then I cried all the way home! It couldn't have been a more wonderful experience though.

Benjamin woke up this morning and one of the first things he said was, "It's tomorrow! I get to go to school!"

John Stephen and I took him to school and we all got out of the car. The class meets on the playground at first. Benjamin was holding on tightly to my hand as we walked through the gate and sucking on a finger of his other hand. I thought maybe he would be too shy and nervous and this would not be a good time. Then he saw his teachers, walked right up to them, and greeted them with a cheery "Good Morning!" and a handshake. They told him how happy they were that he was there and what a good time they were going to have. Benjamin surveyed the area and started to point out what all the other kids were doing. He was ready to play too! I told him that I was going to go and asked for a hug good-bye. He turned around and gave me a super big hug and kiss. Then he went right over to John Stephen. He gave him a huge hug too and said, "Good-bye, John Stephen" and he was off. He ran to the play structure and started climbing. As I walked to the gate, he gave me the sweetest smile and a big wave from the top, then he blew me a kiss. It was perfect!

My baby is a big boy now and I am so proud of him!
