Brown Head

I try not to distinguish people by color because I want the boys to see everyone the same way. Or at least describe the differences their own way. Today Benjamin did just that and I think he did it pretty well. We were eating breakfast in the dining room of my grandmother's retirement village and two men were cleaning the windows outside. A white man would wash the windows first with a scrub brush and then a bald black man would squeegee off the soapy water. (I put these descriptions in so you can picture what Benjamin saw.) Benjamin looked over and said, "Mommy, the man with the brown head has a squeegee just like Daddy uses on the car windows!" And a brown head was exactly what he had!
