Anita, his teacher, was watching from the other table. She looked over proudly too and said, "That's the first time he's done that, you know." I knew I'd never seen him do it, but I didn't know if he might have written his name at school sometime. I think Anita and I both teared up a little! Our little boy is growing up!

Writing
"Mommy, this is going to be for you when I finish!" Benjamin told me as he grabbed a sheet of paper this morning at school. I wanted to talk to his teacher for just a second so I was standing around in the classroom. The next thing I knew Benjamin was asking me, "Will you make the curve?" I looked down at his paper and he had started his name. He needed help with the curve on the J. I've only ever seen him write a B and a few other miscellaneous letters. I helped him with the J and he went right back to work. Then he proudly gave me his paper. He had done a wonderful job writing his whole name!
Anita, his teacher, was watching from the other table. She looked over proudly too and said, "That's the first time he's done that, you know." I knew I'd never seen him do it, but I didn't know if he might have written his name at school sometime. I think Anita and I both teared up a little! Our little boy is growing up!

I'm so glad that you posted a picture of it. As soon as I started reading, I thought to myself "I wanna see it!"
Excellent writing, Benjamin. That is one long name to write!
I had a similar moment this evening as Jake read an entire book to me!!!!...didn't miss a word, and actually read it with some fluidity, instead of just word by word!
Love those moments. Thanks for sharing!
