Favorite part of the day

I volunteered in Benjamin's kindergarten class today. I helped with their "centers" work but stuck around to hear Benjamin's Star Student report. Each student is assigned a week to make a poster about themselves and share something pertaining to the lesson. Benjamin shared apples that he picked himself yesterday at the orchard.

They end the day with a circle time. Benjamin gave his report then they went around the circle and each child shared his/her favorite part of the day. I would say a good 80% of them said "recess" with a handful of "lunch" thrown in. One kid even mixed it up with "P.E." which is actually different from recess, but still in the same category for this example, in my opinion. I just listened silently hoping Benjamin would say something a little better than recess. He happened to be last in line and when it came to his turn, he politely spoke up and said, "Language arts!"

Hooray! I've never been so proud!

I think the only way you could have been more proud was if he had said "math"!
